re-carbon Ltd. used to be a Designated Operational Entity (DOE), accredited by the United Nations’ Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) for the international carbon market. We were the first and only Turkish company to act as an accredited DOE and one of only very few accredited DOEs worldwide.
As of March 2024, we act as a Validation / Verification Body (VVB), accredited by ANSI/ANAB; again the first-and-only Turkish company with such an accreditation.

“Validation” and “Verification” are systematic, independent and documented processes for the evaluation of greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions, related to GHG project plans against agreed validation or verification criteria. Validation and verification are necessary for financing of GHG reduction projects both in the voluntary and the compliance carbon markets.

CDM & Gold Standart & VCS

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), established under the Kyoto Protocol, has historically been the largest international compliance carbon mechanism, enabling the generation of emission reduction credits from projects in developing countries. While CDM remains relevant for legacy projects, global carbon markets are transitioning toward new mechanisms under the Paris Agreement.

The voluntary carbon market comprises a range of independent standards and registries that certify greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and removals. Leading programs include “Gold Standard”, “VERRA”, “International Carbon Registry” , “Isometric”, “CerCarbono”, “Global Carbon Registry”, “Ormex” and “Planet First“. These programs support a broad range of project types, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, agriculture, nature-based solutions and engineered carbon removals such as biochar and enhanced weathering.

Validation and verification activities are compulsory for all Greenhouse Gas Reduction schemes and are carried out by independent and accredited DOEs / VVBs. An accreditation involves both management system requirements and practical validation/verification experience.
