Validation is a systematic, independent and documented process for the evaluation of greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions, related to a GHG project plan against agreed validation criteria.
Validation is performed generally once in the planning stage of the project by an accredited DOE or VVB for the registration of the project in the relevant GHG program registry.

Verification is performed after the implementation of a project by an accredited DOE or VVB and continues during the project’s entire carbon crediting period.
